How to download videos on iPhone and Android
The download itself is the same on both. What differs is where the file goes afterwards and how you get it into the app you actually use.
- No app or extension is needed on either platform
- iOS saves to Files; Android saves to Downloads
- Moving video into Photos or Gallery is a one-step share
On iPhone
Safari saves downloads into the Files app, under Downloads. To get a video into Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video. Audio stays in Files and plays fine from there.
On Android
Chrome saves to the Downloads folder, and most gallery apps index it within a few seconds. If yours doesn't, opening the file once from Downloads usually prompts it.
If a file won't open
Try a 720p rung rather than 2160p — it uses a more widely supported encoding profile. For audio, MP3 is the most forgiving choice on older devices.
Watch your data
Every rung shows its size before you commit. On a metered connection, a 1080p rung is often the difference between a sensible download and a bad surprise.
